Police Investigate Semi-Truck Crash on US Highway 183 in Leander

Leander, TX (August 29, 2024) – A crash involving a semi-truck and two other vehicles on US Highway 183 on a Thursday afternoon left multiple people injured. 

The incident occurred around 1:24 p.m. on U.S. Highway 183 and Sonny Drive. Authorities temporarily closed U.S. Highway 183 in both directions for several hours, but it has since reopened.

According to Leander police, a flatbed semi-truck hauling scaffolding was traveling south when it collided with two stationary vehicles in the northbound turn lane, waiting to turn west onto Sonny Drive. 

At least one of the injured individuals sustained life-threatening injuries. 

The investigation is ongoing.
