Redding, CA (December 27, 2023) – On Tuesday night, Sandra Campbell sustained injuries in a crash on Trinity and Market Streets.

According to Campbell and local police, the collision occurred at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, Dec. 19, as she was crossing the road at the intersection of Trinity and Market streets in downtown Redding.

Campbell recalls receiving the signal to walk from the crosswalk and, when halfway across, she was struck by a vehicle that propelled her dozens of feet across the intersection.

Medical professionals report that the impact resulted in both of Campbell’s hips being broken, along with her pelvis, and a fracture in one of her hands. Campbell, who is still in the process of recovering, describes enduring constant pain since the incident.

Despite the current challenges, this marks the first time in over a decade that Campbell has had access to medical care. The next steps, however, remain uncertain.

“They were going to try to get me into rehab, but so far, they haven’t been able to place me anywhere—even looking to Sacramento,” Campbell informed KRCR.

Having been homeless for 13 years, she is unable to afford the impending medical bills. To address this, her son Kyle has established a GoFundMe page where people can contribute.

Redding police have stated that they are not pursuing any criminal investigation against the driver, determining that there was no negligence involved in the collision.
