1 Person Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 130 in Caldwell County

Caldwell County, TX (August 23, 2024) – Early Friday morning, one person sustained minor injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 130, leading to significant traffic disruptions that lasted throughout the day. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that around 4:10 a.m., a tractor-trailer with a refrigerant trailer struck the cow near mile marker 481 and became disabled on the right shoulder. 

A second tractor-trailer, a car hauler, then collided with the disabled vehicle, flipped into the median, and caught fire.

All occupants were able to exit their vehicles. The driver of the car hauler was transported to a hospital with minor injuries. 

The Caldwell County Office of Emergency Management reported that crews had to remove “thousands of pounds of ham from the roadway” before reopening it.

The crash occurred near Exit 482, also known as the San Marcos exit, in southern Caldwell County.
