Horrifying Crash on South U.S. 183 Left 1 Dead and 3 Injured [Austin, TX]

1 Person Killed after Crash on South U.S. 183 in Southeast Travis County 

Austin, TX (January 18, 2024) – On Thursday morning, one person died, and three others sustained injuries in a crash on South U.S. 183.

Reportedly, a two-vehicle collision pinned two people and resulted in one fatality, KXAN reports. Austin-Travis County EMS confirmed the involvement of four patients in the incident near the 7800 block of South U.S. 183.

EMS teams transported three patients to the hospital with potentially serious injuries, while one person succumbed to their injuries at the scene. 

STAR Flight arrived at the location, leading to the closure of the highway.

After a prolonged extrication effort, one of the pinned individuals was freed from the wreckage and airlifted to the hospital by STAR Flight, while the other was declared deceased at the scene. 

First responders dedicated over an hour to rescue the trapped patients, ATCEMS noted.

Further investigation to determine the circumstances of this crash is ongoing.
