Willius Ventura Killed after Crash on South Palo Verde Road in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (January 29, 2024) – Detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department are actively searching for one or more vehicles that were involved in a crash on South Palo Verde with a pedestrian on Jan. 17. 

The department initially reported in a news release that 35-year-old Willius Ventura ran onto South Palo Verde Road, south of Irvington Road, around 7 p.m. However, a later release on Jan. 29 stated that Ventura had actually fallen into the street.

According to both releases, Ventura was struck by one vehicle and possibly by a second and third vehicle.

Ventura succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision. The Sheriff’s Department noted that the driver of the first vehicle that struck Ventura stopped at the scene. 

However, any subsequent vehicles that hit Ventura did not stop, and there are currently no descriptions available of these vehicles or their drivers.

The Sheriff’s Department is urging anyone with information about the incident or the unidentified vehicles and drivers to contact 911 or call 88CRIME.
