Gael Carrasco Killed after Crash on North La Cholla Boulevard in Tucson

Tucson, AZ (January 11, 2024) – On Wednesday night, 18-year-old Gael Carrasco died, and 5 others sustained injuries in a 3-vehicle crash on North La Cholla Boulevard.

Around 7:30 p.m., Foothills District deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department swiftly responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of North La Cholla Boulevard and North McCarty Road.

Upon arriving, they discovered a three-vehicle collision. 

The first vehicle, possibly lacking headlights, was traveling north on La Cholla Boulevard when the second vehicle, heading south on La Cholla, made a left turn onto McCarty Road, leading to the crash.

In this incident, 18-year-old Gael Carrasco, a passenger in the first vehicle, tragically died at the scene. 

The driver suffered serious injuries, and the vehicle’s other two occupants, including a minor, received hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The two adults in the second vehicle also went to a local hospital with minor injuries. 

Meanwhile, the third vehicle’s sole occupant avoided injury, despite debris from the crash striking their vehicle.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
