CHP Officer Hospitalized After Head-On Crash on Nevada and Placer Streets in Auburn
Auburn, CA (September 18, 2024) – On Wednesday afternoon, a head-on crash on Nevada and Placer Streets.
According to the CHP, the collision occurred just north of I-80. A motorcycle officer, who has served with the agency for 20 years, reported experiencing pain and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The crash happened as the officer was at the Nevada Street exit of I-80 and collided with a truck.
The truck’s driver immediately checked on the officer and used the officer’s radio to call for assistance, CHP Captain Andrew McCulloch told FOX40.com.
“It’s amazing when someone stops and instinctively wants to help. We’re grateful she did that,” McCulloch added. The driver remained at the scene, assisting responding officers.
The CHP confirmed that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the incident.
The westbound I-80 offramp at Nevada Street was temporarily closed, along with surrounding roads, for approximately five hours.
