Child Hospitalized After Crash on Monroe Street in Harlingen
Harlingen, TX (April 12, 2024) – On Friday, a 7-year-old child sustained injuries in a crash on Monroe Street.
According to a Facebook post from HCISD, the incident occurred when the Jefferson Elementary student was exiting a school bus at the intersection of Monroe and “D” street Friday afternoon.
Superintendent J. A. Gonzalez and school board trustees were immediately notified and maintained constant contact with school district transportation administrators at the scene, the district reported.
Gonzalez expressed gratitude that the 7-year-old did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, although the student suffered a fractured ankle.
Gonzalez added that the district looks forward to the student’s return to Jefferson Elementary soon.
