7 People Hospitalized After SUV Vs. 18-Wheeler Crash on Mabry Drive in Clovis

Clovis, NM (September 3, 2024) – On Monday, seven people sustained injuries in a crash on Mabry Drive.

An SUV rear-ended an 18-wheeler on Mabry Drive near the eastern Clovis city limits at CR G on Monday, sending seven people to Plains Regional Medical Center. 

Clovis Fire Department Battalion Chief Chris Elam reported Tuesday that the SUV carried two adults and five children.

The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured, according to Elam. He stated that the SUV’s driver was a 34-year-old man, accompanied by a woman of similar age and five children, ranging from an infant to a 12-year-old.

Elam added that all SUV occupants suffered extremity injuries, such as fractures and breaks, and were taken to the Clovis hospital. 

One passenger was later airlifted to a Lubbock hospital due to a pelvis fracture. 

The crash occurred around 6:50 p.m. on Monday.

Further investigation is ongoing.
