3-Vehicle Crash on Lear Avenue Left Injuries [Twentynine Palms, CA]

3 People Hospitalized after 3-Vehicle Crash on Lear Avenue in Twentynine Palms

Twentynine Palms, CA (October 12, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, three people sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Lear Avenue.

The crash happened in the left turn lane on eastbound Twentynine Palms Highway at about 2:21 p.m. on Oct. 11.

Investigators believe John Peters, 63, of Bermuda Dunes in a silver Saturn rear-ended a gray Volkswagen driven by William Hawkins, 30, of Twentynine Palms. Hawkins had two passengers, Kalani Fetrow, 38, and a 3-year-old boy, both residents of Twentynine Palms.

Investigators believe Hawkins had stopped in the left-turn lane and slid into the rear of a red dump truck also stopped in the left-turn lane driven by Cesar Salazar, 51, of Hesperia.

John Peters and his passenger, 18-year-old Vanessa Peters, also of Bermuda Dunes, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

 The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen were also taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries.

 According to the Sheriff’s Department, drugs, and alcohol are not a factor at this time.
