Terrible Crash on Interstate 90 Left 2 Injured [Snoqualmie, WA]

Melanie Phoulaiat-Makkhavong Hospitalized after Crash on Interstate 90 in Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie, WA (December 27, 2023) – On Wednesday night, 55-year-old Melanie Phoulaiat-Makkhavong sustained injuries in a crash on Interstate 90.

Washington State Troopers report that 85-year-old James Millard of Spokane collided with an oncoming vehicle, driven by 50-year-old Thomas Ecker of Seattle, while traveling east in the westbound lanes of I-90.

As a result of the collision, Millard’s Subaru Outback forced his Mercedes Sprinter van into lane one, where it came to rest sideways. 

Subsequently, a westbound SUV, piloted by 59-year-old Aaron Mekkhavong of Seattle, collided with Millard’s van. Millard sustained injuries and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. 

The other two drivers were unharmed, but Mekkhavong’s passenger, 55-year-old Melanie Phoulaiat-Makkhavong of Seattle, sustained injuries and was taken to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital for treatment.

While not confirmed, Troopers suspect that Millard was under the influence, according to a Tweet from Trooper Rick Johnson.
