Male Pedestrian Killed after Crash on Interstate 8 in La Mesa

La Mesa, CA (October 27, 2023) – On Tuesday morning, a 38-year-old San Diego man died in a crash on Interstate 8.

The incident occurred around 8:38 a.m. in the far right lane of eastbound I-8, east of Baltimore Drive.

While the pedestrian was on foot, a 66-year-old San Diego woman was driving a white 2004 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on I-8 in the same lane.

As she approached the pedestrian, the Chevrolet driver was unable to avoid the man and collided with him, according to CHP. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

EMS took the Chevrolet to Grossmont Hospital with minor injuries.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash for the driver of the Chevrolet, CHP said. 

Further investigation is ongoing.
