Pedestrian Dead after Crash on Interstate 215 in Highgrove

Highgrove, CA (December 29, 2023) – On Thursday night, a pedestrian died in a crash on Interstate 215.

California Highway Patrol investigators were working on unraveling the circumstances behind why a pedestrian entered Interstate 215 in Highgrove, resulting in a fatal collision with multiple vehicles. 

The fatality occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday on the northbound side of I-215, just north of Center Street, as reported by the CHP.

The agency indicated that a man, whose identity was not immediately disclosed, either tried to cross northbound lanes or stepped into oncoming traffic, with the reasons still being investigated. 

In the initial findings, he was first struck in the No. 1 lane by a Kia Optima, followed by two to four other vehicles, all of whose drivers came to a stop, according to the CHP’s preliminary investigation.

Paramedics from the Riverside County Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene shortly after the incident.

 Although no motorists suffered injuries, there were reports of damage to at least one vehicle.
