1 Person Dead After Crash on Interstate 205 in San Joaquin County

San Joaquin County, CA (May 6, 2024) – Wednesday evening, a 17-year-old male from Stockton died in a crash on Interstate 205.

The accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Interstate 205, west of El Rancho Road, about 5 miles northeast of Tracy.

The 17-year-old, driving a 2013 Acura, was speeding on the highway when he attempted to change lanes and sideswiped a 2009 Toyota that was also speeding, according to CHP. 

He was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle. Medical staff declared him dead at the scene.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the roadway and go down a nearby embankment. The Toyota’s driver, a 62-year-old man from Plymouth, sustained only minor injuries. 

After the crash, he fled the scene but officers located him and his vehicle shortly after.

CHP stated that it is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
