1 Dead and 2 Injured After Crash on Interstate 15 in Victorville

Victorville, CA (April 5, 2024) – On Friday night, one person died, and 2 others sustained critical injuries in a fiery crash on Interstate 15.

Following a collision with a bridge, a vehicle caught fire on the northbound I-15 Freeway near Stoddard Wells Road on the night of Friday, April 5, 2024. 

The incident, reported at approximately 7:53 PM, resulted in at least one fatality and two critical injuries, according to scanner traffic. 

California Highway Patrol logs indicate that the vehicle hit the bridge, overturned, and then ignited.

Before the fire department took action, both California Highway Patrol officers and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies reached the scene. 

They found a burning pickup truck fully ablaze, with a deceased male partially ejected from it.

In response to the escalating danger posed by the fire, CHP enforced a hard closure of the affected lanes. Firefighters managed to completely extinguish the fire by about 8:30 PM, discovering at least two more critically injured individuals inside the vehicle. 

Two helicopters were dispatched to land at nearby hospitals to facilitate their transport to out-of-area trauma centers.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, with reports before the accident describing the vehicle’s erratic behavior.
