4 People Hospitalized after Fatal Crash on International Boulevard in Oakland

Oakland, CA (November 8, 2023) – On Wednesday afternoon, one person died, and 4 others sustained injuries in a crash on International Boulevard.

The collision, which occurred between an SUV and a motorcycle, was captured on surveillance video.

The footage revealed the motorcyclist accelerating along International Boulevard, colliding with a light-colored SUV just before 3:15 p.m. The force of the impact caused the motorcycle to erupt in flames, although the motorcyclist was not visible in the video. 

The collision ejected the man some distance away from the bike, resulting in severe burns.

A motorcycle police officer arrived at the scene. Police said he was in the area, saw the fire, and responded. It was upsetting to see a person on fire in the middle of the street.

The other family was the driver of the SUV: a mother with her three teenage children.

According to the police, the family, and the motorcyclist were taken to hospital, where the motorcyclist died.

The family of four was treated for minor injuries. 

Police said speed was a factor in this crash.
