Pedestrian Dead after Crash on International Boulevard in Oakland

Oakland, CA (December 29, 2023) – On Thursday night, a pedestrian died in a crash on International Boulevard.

The incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 in the 7600 block of International Boulevard, prompting officers to respond to a report of a pedestrian collision.

Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered that a Mitsubishi Outlander Red SUV was heading westbound through the 7600 block of International Boulevard. 

A 47-year-old Oakland resident stepped into the westbound lanes of traffic, resulting in a collision with the SUV. The driver of the Mitsubishi SUV remained at the scene.

Despite assistance from the Oakland Fire Department and Falck Ambulance, the victim succumbed to injuries at the scene. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation.

As of now, it remains uncertain whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. 

The incident is currently under investigation, and individuals with information are urged to contact the Oakland Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit at (510) 777-8570.
