4 People Killed in a Head-On Crash on Highway 359 in Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi, TX (January 14, 2024) — On Saturday afternoon, four people died in a head-on crash on Highway 359.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. 

A 2006 Chevy Silverado, carrying three teenagers – two 17-year-old boys and a 16-year-old girl – was heading northbound on HWY 359 towards Skidmore-Tynan. 

While trying to overtake other vehicles on the road, the Silverado collided head-on with a 2021 Nissan Rouge traveling southbound, as stated by DPS officials.

The impact caused the Rouge to leave the roadway, eventually stopping on the road’s west side. 

After the collision, the Silverado returned to the northbound lane, then veered off the road, coming to a halt in the grass on the east side. 

The deceased from the Silverado were identified as 17-year-old Roland Rain Saldana of Corpus Christi, 17-year-old Erick James Duhon of Sandia, and a 16-year-old girl from Mathis.

Additionally, the driver of the Rouge, 21-year-old Jason Mikhail Balsom from Arlington, also died at the scene.

Further investigation is ongoing.
