CHP Investigates Crash on Highway 101 in Willits

Willits, CA (June 20, 2024) – On Thursday, one person sustained minor injuries in a crash on Highway 101.

 Around 5:07 p.m., a flatbed truck and a passenger vehicle collided. Initial reports indicated that at least one person sustained major injuries, but the CHP later updated their site to report minor injuries.

The #2 lane on the northbound side is closed, causing traffic to back up.

Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle veer off the road, flip over, and enter the opposite lanes of traffic before coming to a stop in the bushes, according to the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. 

The collision involved a semi-truck and a grey passenger vehicle, with multiple people seen on the side of the road, one of whom appeared injured.

By 5:11 p.m., emergency responders, including units from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF), were on the scene. 

Traffic was backed up on both sides of the highway. Please avoid the area if possible and expect delays.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

UPDATE 6:54 p.m.: The CHP updated the injury report to minor injuries. The roadway is now clear, and traffic is flowing freely.
