Child Critical after Crash on Elkhorn Boulevard and Sprig Drive in Sacramento
Sacramento County, CA (December 20, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, a 5-year-old child sustained critical injuries in a crash on Elkhorn Boulevard and Sprig Drive.
Sacramento Metro Fire reported that the incident took place around 1:21 a.m. in North Highlands, near Elkhorn Boulevard and Sprig Drive.
During the crash, a “solo sedan-style vehicle” carrying two adults and three children collided with a tree.
California Highway Patrol provided additional details, noting that all the children in the vehicle were under 8 years old, with the two others involved sustaining moderate injuries.
Following an investigation, CHP determined that a hit-and-run driver had sideswiped the sedan-style vehicle carrying the family.
Subsequent findings revealed that the father, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash, was under the influence.
CHP confirmed his arrest in connection with the incident.
