1 Driver Hospitalized After Big Rig Crash on 91 Freeway in Cerritos

Cerritos, CA (May 10, 2024) – On Friday, one person sustained severe injuries in a crash on 91 Freeway.

Reportedly, a pickup truck crashed into the back of a stalled big rig in a traffic lane on the eastbound 91 Freeway , pinning the truck under the semitrailer and disrupting the morning commute. 

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash shortly before 6 a.m. near the 605 Freeway interchange. 

The collision sparked a fire, which responding firefighters quickly extinguished.

Responders transported the driver of the black Dodge pickup truck to a hospital with major injuries after finding him unconscious and trapped inside the vehicle. 

Several good Samaritans assisted in extracting the injured driver, according to the CHP. 

The cause of the big rig’s stall remains under investigation.
