Matthew Mackenzie Dead in Somis Auto Accident on Los Angeles Avenue
SOMIS, CA (May 28, 2020) – Tuesday morning, Matthew Mackenzie, 28, died in a multi-vehicle crash on Los Angeles Avenue in Somis.
The authorities received a report of the fatal crash around 8:45 a.m. on Los Angeles Avenue near La Cumbre Road.
As a result of the crash, the CHP shut down both directions of Los Angeles Avenue while crews investigated and worked at the scene. The lanes reopened around 1:15 p.m.
According to Patrol officer Ryan Ayers, an eastbound sedan on Los Angeles Avenue went into oncoming traffic for unidentified reasons.
Then, the sedan hit a westbound flatbed truck. Afterward, a westbound semi also hit the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, Mr. Mackenzie, died at the crash scene. Reports revealed that he was the only occupant of the vehicle.
Later, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office identified the deceased as Matthew Mackenzie, a Camarillo man.
Meanwhile, Ayers confirmed that the semi and the flatbed truck were occupied by its drivers only. Both of them remained uninjured in the crash.
Also, the patrol officers and crews with the Ventura County Fire Department both arrived at the crash scene about the same time.
The collision also led one small engine fire to break out. The crews were able to extinguish it immediately.
Moreover, the flatbed truck’s fuel bed was also damaged, which caused a small spill in the crash scene. The Caltrans responded to clean up the spill.
Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends Matthew Mackenzie.

It is important to make sure your family is covered in the face of tragedy.
A wrongful death lawsuit gives the loved ones of a departed family member some semblance of justice. By filing a wrongful death claim, you can do right by your loved one.
“Insurance companies will try to save money, even if it means not fully compensating a family for the wrongful death of a loved one. When a family retains an attorney immediately, it gives the family time to grieve their loss, and their attorney can start focusing on holding the negligent party accountable,” Tyler Toomey, a seasoned wrongful death attorney at Sweet Lawyers says.
