Speeding Driver Crashes Into Power Poles in Renton

Renton, WA (October 9, 2020) – A single-vehicle crash in 108th Street left two people injured and caused power outage on Thursday morning.

The crash happened on October 8 in 108th Street near the Benson Apartments around 5 a.m.

Medics responded to the scene and found a driver and a passenger trapped in the wreckage. Authorities were able to extricate the two victims from the crash and medics then transported them to Harborview Medical Center.

However, their condition is currently unknown.

The investigators believed that the driver of the Tesla Model 3 was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control. Thus, it struck a median and two power poles before rolling over onto the southbound lanes.

Furthermore, the power interruption affected nearly 200 people in the neighborhood, police said. Moreover, Puget Sound Energy also responded to the incident to help in restoring the electricity. However, the report says it will take until the afternoon before the electricity will be restored and the roads will be reopened.

Driving can be very dangerous and almost anything can happen if you are not prepared. It is important to always drive within the posted speed limit. Slow down if you see traffic stalling ahead to avoid hitting other vehicles.
