Craig Wheeler Dead in Tacoma Car Accident
TACOMA, WA (December 27, 2018) – A longshoreman died while administering traffic on a ship at the Port of Tacoma on December 21.
The man was identified as 62-year-old Craig Wheeler of Edgewood. It was determined that Wheeler was an employee on a ship named North Star, directing semi-trucks being off-loaded on several ramps.
It was around 9:00 p.m. when he moved to properly look at a semi truck he was aiding to move and stepped into the path of a different truck backing down a ramp.
Wheeler was hit by the truck and was pronounced dead shortly after.
According to officials, Wheeler is working for Totem Ocean Trailer Express, Inc. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently conducting an investigation.
