Couple Hospitalized in State Route 702 Collision [Roy, WA]

Driver Faces Charges Following Roy 2-Vehicle Crash

Roy, WA (March 5, 2024) – Three people were injured following a State Route 702 collision Saturday afternoon.

It was about 3 p.m. when a  16-year-old Roy boy was westbound on the freeway approaching 8th Avenue. 

Investigators said he turned left in the area, but failed to yield to oncoming traffic.  As a result, the teen driver crashed into an eastbound vehicle driven by a Roy couple in their 60s.

The paramedics took the couple to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma while the teen driver was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. The 16-year-old driver faces a second-degree negligent driving charge.
