Pratiti Renee Mehta Arrested after Hitting Bicyclist on Bristol Street and Fleeing
COSTA MESA, CA (March 20, 2019) – A man was injured in a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Red Hill Avenue on Tuesday, and the suspect has been found and arrested.
Police officers and fire officials responded to the scene of the collision that occurred around 8:20 AM, near the intersection of Red Hill Avenue and Bristol Street.
Costa Mesa police reported that a 56-year-old man was biking in the area when he was struck by a black Mercedes Benz. The driver fled and the victim called 911. He was taken to a hospital with a compound ankle fracture and is expected to survive, police said. His identity has not yet been released to the public.
The suspect’s vehicle was described as a 2012 to 2015 Mercedes Benz SLK300 or SLK350. Pratiti Renee Mehta, 33, of Costa Mesa was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run resulting in injury after the Costa Mesa Police Department released details about the incident and asked the public’s support in identifying the suspect.
