Cory Dozier Involved in Chico DUI Police Chase on Main Street
Chico, CA (December 29, 2020) – On Monday, a driver suffered injuries, while police arrested 24-year-old Cory Dozier in a DUI police chase on Main Street and 9th Street.
The Chico car accident happened at about 2 A.M.
The chase, which reached speeds of 120 mph, started in Oroville.
CHP said Dozier drove a Dodge Charger and ran a stop sign. Instead of pulling over, he led the CHP on a pursuit until he crashed with another vehicle.
“He was definitely recklessly evading us,” said CHP officer Andrew Haskins. “He exited on Skyway, and from there he drove through several streets in Chico, running multiple stop signs and stop lights.”
Haskins added, as bad as the incident was that it could have been worse.
“For sure, yes, because during the collision there were several pedestrians in the parking lot behind us at the gas station,” said Haskins. “So it definitely posed a very dangerous situation for everyone involved.”
Rescuers took the innocent driver to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries but is expected to survive.
Similarly, the only property damage was a broken window to a defunct business and a traffic light cabinet that was destroyed.
Moreover, police arrested Dozier on charges of felony DUI and evading arrest.
May this be a reminder to all drivers that operating a vehicle is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly.
