Multi-Vehicle Wreck on South Avenue in Corning Kills One and Injures Several Others
CORNING, CA (February 23, 2019) – One person was killed following a multi-vehicle collision late Saturday afternoon in Tehama County.
The collision happened around 5:30 p.m. on South Avenue near Michigan Avenue, approximately halfway between 5 Freeway and Highway 99.
The exact number of vehicles involved and details of how the crash occurred were not indicated on the initial log, but at least one of them had struck a light pole.
A total of six patients with unspecified injuries were found in the crash. Life-saving aid were performed, but at least one of them did not survive and was declared dead.
The crash caused closure of South Avenue, a popular road that connects Highway 99 and 5 Freeway and traffic was backed up. Motorists were advised to use alternate routes to their destination.
Further details, including the identity of the deceased, were not immediately available. The crash remains under investigation.
