ST LOUIS, MO (August 29, 2024) – On Monday, Cornell Sparks Jr was arrested after a crash on 5900 Dr Martin Luther King Drive.

The incident happened in the 5900 block of Dr Martin Luther King Drive.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, a vehicle traveled across the opposite lane and into the sidewalk and attempted to run over a pedestrian. Then, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the incident.

Moreover, responders rushed the pedestrian, who was in his 60s, to a hospital with a fractured back, brain bleeding, and lung injuries.

Furthermore, officers managed to locate and arrest the hit-and-run suspect, identified a 44-year-old Sparks, for first-degree assault or attempt, armed criminal action, leaving the scene of the accident, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department continued to investigate the crash.
