CONCORD, CA (January 17, 2019) – A woman was injured following a traffic collision involving a big rig and a sedan Thursday morning in Concord.
The collision happened around 10:02 a.m. on westbound Highway 4 at Port Chicago Highway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white big rig and a gray 2015 Nissan Altima collided, both blocking the left hand shoulder. A female occupant sustained a cut on the mouth and head, and was unable to get out from the car.
Fire crews along with paramedics responded to the scene and worked on the rescue operation. The patient was then transported to a hospital in an unknown condition.
There were no official reports stating what caused the crash or how it exactly transpired. Authorities are looking further into the accident.
Along with knowing about a truck’s blind spots and avoid traveling in them, giving big rigs the distance they need for safe operation is essential to avoid truck crashes. Heavy trucks traveling at high speeds require more room and greater distances to slow down or accelerate, change lanes, or perform other driving maneuvers. Remain safe by giving trucks the room they need to safely negotiate the highways. Watch for their moves, and focus on not becoming a problem to those drivers.
