Fiery Head-On Crash in Los Molinos Kills Two Drivers
LOS MOLINOS, CA (August 13, 2019) – The Tehama County Coroner’s Office has released the name of one of two drivers who were killed in a fiery head-on crash on Highway 99 in Tehama County.
One of the victims was identified as Colton Stout, 21, of Los Molinos. The CHP said he was killed when another driver crossed the center line and collided with his vehicle head-on.
The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 99 near 6th Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a woman in a Dodge Caliber was driving erratically and at high speed northbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic. The SUV then crashed head-on into a gold Saturn Ion, driven by Stout.
The intensity of the impact caused both vehicles to catch fire, killing the two drivers.
CHP said there were no passenger in either vehicle.
The Tehama County Coroner’s Office is working to confirm the identify of the woman.
Officers closed Highway 99 for about three hours as they investigated and cleared the scene. The highway reopened just after 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.
