Man Dies in Collision with School Bus on Interstate 10 near Pepper Avenue
COLTON, CA (March 8, 2018) – A man dies after a car crash involving a school bus on the 10 Freeway near the Pepper Avenue exit, early Thursday morning.
Around 6:30 AM, a black 2010 Jeep Cherokee was driving on the westbound 10 freeway, when it crashed into the side of a school bus that was also traveling west. No students were on board the bus at the time of the incident, and it is unclear whether or not the bus driver sustained any injuries.
The driver of the Jeep was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It is believed that the man suffered a medical episode. No other injuries have been reported at this time.
The Pepper Avenue off-ramp was shut down, as well as the right lanes of the westbound side of the highway. Traffic in the westbound lanes was backed up for several miles, all the way to the 210 Freeway in Redlands.
Police officials continue to investigate the cause of the fatal collision. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending the notification of his family.
