Colby McDaniel Hurt in Fatal Collision on Highway 149 [Rusk County, TX]

Rusk County, TX (March 21, 2024) On Friday morning, 23-year-old Colby McDaniel of Kilgore was injured in a tragic crash on FM 782 that killed 17-year-old Jerry Brantley of Tatum.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fatal crash happened at about 8 a.m. at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 782 and State Highway 149.

Reports say that Brantley was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado when he failed to yield to a 2019 Ford F-350, driven by McDaniel. Officials say that Brantley turned left onto FM 782, and the F-350 collided with the Chevrolet Colorado.

Medics rushed the teen to a Longview hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, McDaniel was taken to the hospital for his injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities are investigating the 2-vehicle crash and have not provided further details about the incident.
