Morning 2-Car Wreck on Highway 41 in Coarsegold Kills One and Sends Two Others to Hospital
COARSEGOLD, CA (January 10, 2019) – One person was killed following a two-car crash Thursday morning in Coarsegold.
The crash happened around 7:34 a.m. on Highway 41 at Road 200.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a car was traveling northbound on Highway 41 when it slowed to turn off the highway and into a driveway. The driver hit the brakes too hard, causing the car to go sideways into oncoming traffic.
Another car traveling in the southbound lane crashed directly into the side of the northbound car, causing the southbound’s car to flip over.
The driver of the overturned car suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Information on the victim’s identity was not immediately available.
Two people in the other car were hospitalized in unknown conditions.
Traffic was backed up in both directions and one-way traffic control has been put in place.
No additional information was provided at this time. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
