Road Shut Down after Sana Claria Semi-Truck Collision
SANTA CLARITA, CA (August 29, 2019) – The authorities administered a hard closure after a semi-truck collision on 5 Freeway.
The incident occurred on the southbound lanes of 5 Freeway, just south of Templin Highway on August 21.
However, one driver revealed that he parked on the right shoulder when another vehicle crashed into him at 4:00 a.m.
“Reporting party said he was parked on the right shoulder when another semi crashed into him,” Officer Peter Nicholson with CHP confirmed. “The call came in as a property damage report at 4:32, we got one unit still there so it’s still working.”
The two semi-trucks filled with products lost their load when the trailers crashed. The trailers ripped open and spilled items and shredded metal on the road.
The collision led CHP officers to request a closure to let Caltrans workers clear the debris. According to the CHP officers, the no. 4 lane of the 5 Freeway south remained closed while crews worked on the semi just after 9:00 am.
Caltrans believes that the freeway will reopen at around 11:00 a.m.
If you feel yourself drifting into other lanes due to fatigue or any other reason, safely pull over and rest before continuing to drive.
