Pilot and Passenger Fatally Injured in Small Airplane Crash near Old Oregon Trail
REDDING, CA (November 15, 2018) – Two people were killed early Thursday evening following a small airplane crash near Old Oregon Trail. The deceased victims were later identified as 64-year-old Clayton Edward Abajian of Rescue and 69-year-old Dick Tak of El Dorado Hills.
As per reports, the incident happened near Old Oregon Trail, at about 6:30 PM. A Cessna 182 crashed shortly after taking off from the Redding Municipal Airport due to unknown circumstances.
Abajian and his mission assistant, Tak, both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
The fatal crash remains under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration. It was also noted that the Cessna was on an Angel Flight at the time of the crash. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
