89-Year Old Union City Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Fremont Boulevard

 
FREMONT, CA (July 8, 2018) – An elderly man was killed Sunday morning after he was struck by a vehicle near Fremont Boulevard. The deceased victim was later identified as 89-year-old Claudio Villasenor of Union City.
 
As per reports, the collision took place at 10:35 AM. Villasenor was crossing Decoto Road from north to south when he was hit by a westbound Chevrolet sedan, driven by an unidentified 25-year-old man.
 
He sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics. The driver of the Chevy remained at the scene and was cooperative with the investigators.
 
The initial investigation suggests that the pedestrian had been walking southbound when the Chevy heading west in the No. 1 lane of Decoto struck him. No arrests have been made and neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to have played a role in the incident. An investigation is ongoing to determine liability and the cause of the fatal collision.
 
No additional information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
