46-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after Struck by Sedan at Intersection of University and Fairmount Avenues
CITY HEIGHTS, CA (January 31, 2018) – A pedestrian sustained serious injuries while crossing a City Heights street on Wednesday according to San Diego police.
Officer John Buttle stated that at around 6:20 PM, a 46-year-old woman was in a crosswalk at University Avenue and Fairmount Avenue, when she was struck by a gray Honda sedan.
The female victim was transported to a hospital to receive immediate treatment for life-threatening injuries. The 20-year-old driver who was traveling westbound on University Avenue remained at the scene. Police stated that the driver had a panic attack after the accident and was also brought to the hospital for analysis.
Investigators are still working to identify who had the right of way at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs were not considered to be involved in the incident.
