Fatal Rear-End Crash Near West Avenue
Fresno, CA (August 19, 2022) – On Thursday, a 31-year-old Kia female passenger sustained fatal injuries in a Church Avenue multi-vehicle collision.
The CHP responded to the crash scene at 3:15 p.m. near West Avenue and Hughes Avenue.
The authorities say that a man and a woman were riding the westbound Kia which was stopped on Church Avenue while waiting to do a left turn into their residence.
Then, a Cadillac Escalade rear-ended the Kia. The impact of the collision pushed the Kia directly into the path of a GMC driver with a 63-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman inside.
Unfortunately, the Kia was crushed from behind and severely damaged in the front from.
Immediately, the paramedics rushed the female passenger inside the Kia to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center where she died.
Moreover, the authorities are investigating why the 41-year-old Cadillac male driver did not slow down to prevent hitting the Kia.
Officers say all parties were wearing their seat belts during the collision. They added that they do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors in the fatal rear-end crash near West Avenue.
