Multi-Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 in Chualar Kills 1 and Injures Several Others
CHUALAR, CA (February 25, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a multi-vehicle crash Monday morning in South Monterey County.
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 near Chualar River Road.
At least four to six vehicles, including a silver Jeep Cherokee and blue Saturn Vue, were involved, according to the CHP. One of the cars was traveling southbound when it lost control, flipped over the center divider and hit the other.
Seven people were reportedly injured, at least of them did not survive and was declared dead.
The crash raised a SigAlert in the area, and the northbound lanes were being diverted to Old Stage Road.
Further details, including the identity of the deceased, were not immediately available. The incident remains under investigation.
