2 Dead and 1 Hospitalized after Hit-and-Run Collision near Pomona 60 Freeway, Eric Alfredo Figueroa-Reyes Arrested
RIVERSIDE, CA (June 9, 2018) – Two men were killed early Saturday morning and a woman was left injured following a hit-and-run traffic collision on Market Street, early Saturday morning. The deceased victims were identified as 28-year-old Christopher Morales of Hesperia and 26-year-old Desmond Franklin of Victorville.
According to the Riverside Police, the collision took place at about 3:15 AM on Market Street at the Pomona 60 Freeway interchange.
A Nissan Sentra, driven by an unidentified female driver, was attempting a left-hand turn when it was struck by a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 22-year-old Eric Alfredo Figueroa-Reyes of Fontana.
Morales, a passenger in the Nissan, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Franklin, also an occupant of the Nissan, was transported to the Riverside Community Hospital, where he died less than an hour later. The driver of the Nissan was also hospitalized for suffering moderate injuries.
The police confirmed that the Jeep driver did not stop at the scene. Figueroa-Reyes reportedly fled the scene on foot but was later arrested at the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The case remains under investigation to reveal the cause of the collision and to determine who was at fault in the incident.
