Christopher Lozano Killed in Brutal Crash on State Highway 171 [Covington, TX]

1 Dead in Covington Auto Accident on State Highway 171 

COVINGTON, TX (September 19, 2024) – Early Tuesday, 44-year-old Christopher Lozano died in a brutal crash on State Highway 171.

The incident occurred at around 12:28 a.m. on State Highway 171 northwest of Covington in Hill County.

Department of Public Safety Sgt. Ryan Howard reported that a Chevrolet pickup traveling north on Highway 171 became disabled due to mechanical issues, leaving it stalled on the road. The occupants had safely exited the vehicle, but moments later, a Dodge Ram collided with the Chevrolet, causing it to spin and strike Lozano.

No other injuries were reported.

Sgt. Howard reminded drivers that in the event of a crash or vehicle malfunction that obstructs traffic or poses a risk to others, it’s crucial to call 911 right away. First responders can manage the scene, help prevent additional accidents, and ensure everyone’s safety.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
