21-Year-Old Christopher Lopez Killed in Highway 99 Motorcycle Crash [Salida, CA]

Salida, CA (September 23, 2023) – On Thursday, 21-year-old Christopher Lopez of Ceres lost his life following a Highway 99 motorcycle crash.

The fatal collision happened at approximately 5:38 a.m. south of Hammett Road.

Officers said Lopez was riding a 2007 Triumph motorcycle northbound on the freeway. 

Traffic was stopped and backed up in the fast lane when Lopez rear-ended a 2010 Mercedes sedan driven by 26-year-old Jonathan Mendes of Los Banos. 

As a result of the impact, Lopez was thrown from the motorcycle onto the pavement. The paramedics rushed him to Doctors Medical Center where he was declared deceased.
