30-Year-Old Bakersfield Man Identified as Pedestrian Killed in Collision near Highway 223

KEENE, CA (November 4, 2018) – A man was killed Sunday evening following a pedestrian collision near Highway 223. The deceased victim was later identified as 30-year-old Christopher Lee Craven, a resident of Bakersfield.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 9:15 PM. The pedestrian was walking along Highway 58 when he stepped onto the road, directly into the path of an oncoming 2018 Ford.

Craven suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the 42-year-old Hayward man driving the Ford remained on site and cooperated with investigators.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that aside from the area’s minimal lighting, Craven was wearing dark clothes at the time of the accident. Additional information will be released to the public once it becomes available.
