Christopher Graham of Paso Robles Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 [Modesto, CA]

Modesto, CA (July 8, 2023) – On Thursday night, 27-year-old Christopher Graham of Paso Robles was killed and a 60-year-old Modesto woman sustained injuries in an accident on Highway 99.

The fatal collision happened at about 11:38 p.m. south of Pelandale Avenue.

 Investigating officers said Graham was driving a Toyota sedan and made an unsafe lane change. Apparently, he struck a Volvo driven by the 60-year-old woman in the slow lane next to him.

As a result, the 60-year-old woman lost control of the vehicle and drove off the highway through a cyclone fence. The vehicle rested on railroad tracks parallel to the highway.

Meanwhile, Graham drove south in an attempt to flee the scene. However, his vehicle became disabled about half a mile away. Graham got out of his vehicle and attempted to get motorists to stop for him. 

Investigating officers said Graham was waving his arms and even throwing rocks at passing vehicles. Afterward, he walked into the slow lane, directly into the path of a Chevrolet pickup. Unfortunately, he was hit by the pickup and died at the scene. 

The Volvo driver was transported to Memorial Medical Canter with minor injuries while the Chevrolet pickup driver, a 51-year-old Modesto man, did not sustain injuries from the accident.

There is no information if the Toyota driver was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol when the collision happened.
