33-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Auto Collision on Highway 99 near Herndon Avenue in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (April 21, 2020) – Thursday, 33-year-old Christina Barton was killed in a rollover accident on Highway 99.
CHP revealed that the crash occurred just north of Herndon Avenue. An unidentified vehicle struck the rear of a big-rig. However, the events leading up are currently unclear.
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to roll over before it landed on its roof. After the vehicle rolled, two people were pinned in the wreckage. As a result, responding firefighters extricated the two victims.
Due to the extent of her injuries, Barton was later pronounced dead on scene.
Meanwhile, medics rushed the unidentified driver of the vehicle to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment of major injuries. However, there has been no update on their current condition.
In addition, the big-rig driver’s condition has not yet been disclosed. Moreover, the surrounding area on Highway 99 was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.
The California Highway Patrol is currently handling the investigation to determine further information.
