Philip Sanders, Pamela Bosman, Christiane Helbig Involved in DUI Crash on Highway 97

ELLENSBURG, WA (May 18, 2018)– Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97, on Friday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred at around 9:38 PM on the 97 freeway, just four miles north of Ellensburg. 68-year-old Philip Sanders of Redmond was driving in a red 2016 BMW X2 when he stopped on Clarke Road and failed to yield to the right of way. He then turned left onto Highway 97 and went into the path of another vehicle.

48-year-old Pamela Bosman of Ellensburg was driving a gray 2013 GMC Terrain and was unable to stop before crashing into Sanders’ vehicle. Bosman’s car spun and came to a stop blocking the southbound lanes of Highway 97. The BMW left the roadway to the right and went down an embankment, before coming to a full stop about 30 feet from the roadway.

Bosman and a passenger in Sanders’ vehicle were injured in the collision. Bosman was rushed to Kittitas Valley Healthcare for treatment, while 39-year-old Christiane Helbig of Redmond was treated at the scene.

According to the WSP, Sanders faces a charge of failure to yield, and Bosman faces a DUI charge.
