SAN MARCOS, CA (August 14, 2019) – Authorities arrested a 24-year-old man after an accident on Los Vallecitos Boulevard on August 11.
The police detained him on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer with his car and causing multiple accidents.
A deputy tried to stop a Christian Reinoso who’s suspected of DUI around 5:00 p.m. The driver parked in a lot in the 450 block of Autumn Drive. However, the suspect backed up and struck the deputy’s unoccupied patrol vehicle twice, Sgt. Charles Morreale of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department revealed.
The driver reportedly escaped the scene, hit a fence and a parked car. While police chase him, the man ran a red light at Los Vallecitos Boulevard and Knoll Road. Christian Reinoso then crashed with another vehicle. Reinoso’s car eventually overturned. However, he still managed to escape on foot into an apartment complex in the 200 block of Knoll Road. The deputies finally captured Reinoso on Knoll Road.
Reinoso, a San Marcos resident, went to Palomar Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Meanwhile, responders also transported the other driver to the hospital with injuries.
Reinoso is now facing charges of assault on a peace officer and hit-and-run causing injury.
