Samuel Melo Involved in Modesto Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 and Carpenter Road
MODESTO, CA (October 17, 2022) – Saturday night, Christian Martinez suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 99 and Carpenter Road.
The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on southbound Highway 99, north of the Carpenter Road/Briggsmore Avenue overpass.
According to reports, responders found 22-year-old Christian Martinez lying on the shoulder of the highway. After treating him, responders took him to a local hospital.
Meanwhile, the preliminary investigation revealed that 29-year-old Samuel Melo of Patterson drove a 2017 Ford pickup. Melo traveled south in the fast lane at 75 mph.
Moreover, Martinez was on the west shoulder when for unknown reasons he ran into the traffic lanes and the path of the pickup. As a result, Melo struck Martinez by the front left of the Ford.
Officers confirmed that Melo wore his seatbelt and determined not to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
