San Jacinto Man Dead in Landers Accident at Means Dry Lake
LANDERS, CA (February 1, 2022) – Saturday, Christian Karnes died in a recreational vehicle crash at Means Dry Lake.
According to reports, Karnes’ 2022 Polaris RZR rolled over on a sand dune at Means Dry Lake. Then, 27-year-old Christian Karnes of San Jacinto and his 27-year-old passenger, Maribel Gonzalez were ejected. The incident happened as Karnes descended the steep sand dune.
As a result, Christian Karnes died in the crash. Meanwhile, Gonzalez refused hospitalization after suffering from minor injuries.
Officers noted that Karnes and Gonzalez failed to wear a protective, five-point harness installed in the vehicle. They also failed to properly wear helmets.
Due to the limited information available, the crash remains under active investigation. However, the authorities ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor in the crash.
